Chinese tech giants are gearing up to enter the world of electric cars. It is not possible to ignore Huawei and Xiaomi’s work in this field. The latest statement from Huawei says that its electric car called Luxeed S7 has surpassed the Tesla Model S.
Huawei and Chery’s first car Luxeed S7 will kick up dust
Huawei is raising expectations for its electric car developed with Chery Autos. Luxeed, a joint venture between Huawei and Chery Autos, will launch its first model, the S7 coupe, in China at the end of November. The latest announcements seem to make Tesla jealous.
The Luxeed S7 uses Chery’s E0X electric car platform designed for dual-motor all-wheel drive. Huawei Automobile President Richard Yu Chengdong claimed that the vehicle will be better than the Tesla Model S in several aspects.
The new electric car will be Huawei’s biggest step into the electric vehicle market. The tech giant had previously partnered with automaker Seres for the Aito brand. In this context, it launched the Aito M5 model in 2021.
Huawei has also previously supplied hardware to other manufacturers in autonomous driving and imaging technologies. However, the Luxeed S7 is intriguing as it is a model that Huawei is directly involved in its production.
Details on the S7’s battery range and pricing are still unclear. It will be introduced in China, Huawei’s home market, in November and will be released later this year.
